Edith Weaver McBride, age 94 of Rocky Mount, died peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Oliver Page McBride.
She is survived by her daughter, Betsy and husband James Brooks (loved as a son); son, Darius and wife Carolyn (loved as a daughter); four grandsons and their wives; three great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 1444 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 180 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, Va. 24115.
Funeral services will be conducted from Sandy Ridge Baptist Church 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Joe Dillon and Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday with her family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
