Edna E. Harrison, age 83 of Glade Hill passed on to her eternal life at her home after a beautiful day, surrounded by her family, friends, loved ones and kind caregivers with prayers, tears and beautiful music and singing.

Edna was born on December 18, 1923 in the Redwood community at Brushy Hill in Franklin County, Va. at her mother’s ancestry home same as her mother. This land that had been passed down for many generations. She grew up, went to school, built her home, raised her family and lived out the rest of her full life there.

Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of the late Charlie F. and Annie Davis Ellis. She married the love of her life for 31 years, the late William Vestel Harrison after a long courtship shortly after he came home from serving in WWII. She was also preceded in death by a special grandson, Kerry Brent Harrison; brother, Fred Ellis; sister, Melva Ellis Etter; infant sister, Hilda Jene Ellis.

She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Her happiest moments were spent at home visiting with family and friends, especially her grandchildren which were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and her way of always making everyone welcome in her home.

Surviving to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Betty H. and Colin K. Wray, Phyllis H. and Buddy B. Dillon; son, William Michael Harrison; grandchildren, Christie K. Wray and husband David Ramadan, Colin Kevin Wray, Kellie Brooke Dillon, Johnathan Brent Dillon; sister, Mary E. Ferguson; brother, Woodrow Ellis; brothers-in-law, Billy B. Harrison, Rosevelt Dillon, Ronald Doss; sisters-in-law, Nannie Kate Shields, Barbara Doss, Elsie Harrison, Corena Harrison; very special and lifelong friend, Dalphine Swanson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregiver, Julie Arrington who she loved dearly. Also many thanks to caregiver Rebecca Hodges, Amanda with the Department of Aging and all the special loving people at Carilion Hospice of Franklin County especially Elisa Landwher.

Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Denise Bates officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

The family appreciates flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or to the Department of Aging, 136 Tanyard Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.

Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
