Edward J. Smith “Eddy, E.J.” age 63 of Rocky Mount, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 18, 2007.
E.J. was born November 10, 1943 in Endicott, Va. He was the only child of the late Florentine H. Smith and Opal Moore Smith Ramsey.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Wanda Frith Smith; three sons and daughter-in-law, Blake Smith of Ludlow, England, Kevin Smith of Winston-Salem, NC, Brent Smith and Anne Marie Dailey of Dowell, MD; two grandsons, Liam Smith and Colin Smith of Dowell, MD; and his mother-in-law, Lillian Frith of Rocky Mount.
A memorial service will be conducted from Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Bruce Huffman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the following organizations that were very important to E.J., Roanoke Area Ministries, 824 Campbell Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24016-3536 or Germantown Brick Relay for Life Team (checks made to American Cancer Society), 2363 Brick Church Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151-4017 or World Hunger Auction, Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
