Edwin Leon Mason

Edwin Leon Mason, age 68 of Ferrum went to be with the Lord Monday, November 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Hancock Mason; father, Lloyd Mason; step-mother, Elaine Mason; and brother-in-law, Hilbert Lawrence. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Leon was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1961-1964. Surviving are his wife, Oneda Talbert Mason; four amazing children, Gary Dean Mason and wife Rhonda, Gerry Dion Mason, Tammy Hutson Buckner and husband Joe, Michael Todd Mason; amazing granddaughter, Jessica Hutson Visel and husband Donnie; two great-grandchildren that meant the world to him, Kaleigh and Hayden Visel; special brother and sister, Stewart Mason and wife Susan, Linda Lawrence; many nieces and nephews including special niece, Jamie Mason; and his canine companion, Zach. Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice Nurse, Lydia Border and Social Worker, Pam McKnown that provided him with their wonderful care. Also to Pastor Liz Lazenby for her care and concern. Memorial services will be conducted from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Friday with Pastor Liz Lazenby officiating. His family will receive friends following the service during a fellowship luncheon at the church.
