Elizabeth Ann Layne

Elizabeth Ann Frenzel Layne, age 79 of Moneta, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024. She was born March 14, 1945 in New Brunswick, Canada. She was a former resident of Waynesboro, VA and has lived in Moneta, VA for the last 31 years. Ann retired from Virginia Western Community College where she spent her last few years working at the Franklin County Workforce Development Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. Frenzel and Blanche Duncan Frenzel. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Homer L. Layne; daughter, Jennifer Herring (Tommy); sons, Jay Layne and Jim Layne (Becky). She was a proud Grammy to eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with another one on the way. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Vicky Layne (Gary); and other relatives and close friends. A celebration of life will be held at Halesford Baptist Church (2485 Lost Mountain Road, Wirtz, VA), 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. There will be a meal provided by the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association in memory of Ann, or to Halesford Baptist Church.
