Shed not a tear in sorrow for on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 Elizabeth (Liz) Lynch Williford, age 56 of Rocky Mount finally won her hard fought battle with cancer. It was her request to be at home at the time of her death and her request was granted surrounded by her family and friends.
She was employed by AEI, Bojangles 220 North of Rocky Mount and she was a 1968 graduate of Franklin County High School.
Liz was preceded in death by her father, Dalton Lynch.
She is survived by her husband of sixteen years, John Williford; her daughter, Jessica Williford; her mother, Edith Lynch; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Brenda Lynch; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Elwood Jones all of Rocky Mount; step-daughter, Monica Williford, Strausburg; grandson, Jonathan May, Woodstock; granddaughter, Jordyn Williford; mother-in-law, Dorothy (Dot) Williford; sister-in-law, Lynn Tevalt and husband, Richard all of Strausburg; several nieces and nephews; a countless number of special friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 3:00 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James Steele and the Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJFWY, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244 or Red Valley Rescue Squad, c/o Captain John Allgauer, 53 Frederick Circle, Hardy, VA 24101.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
