Elizabeth Pendleton Saunders

Elizabeth “Liz” Pendleton (Claiborne) Saunders, age 87 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, March 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Saunders; son, Tony Saunders; parents, Frank and Velma Pendleton; and brother, Jack Pendleton. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff Saunders and wife Jane; granddaughter, Diane Meeks Hodges; and sisters, Mildred Elloitt and Jean Powell. Liz was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and Lighthouse Baptist Church in Rocky Mount in her earlier years and a member of Chamblissburg Baptist Church in her former years. Special thanks to Dr. Madhoun, Dr. Watts and Richfield Nursing Home in Salem for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to a children’s cause or your local animal shelter. Graveside services will be conducted from Mountain View Memorial Park 9 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Barry Witt officiating. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
