Ella Mae Chitwood

Ella Mae Chitwood, age 83 of Rocky Mount passed away January 4, 2025 peacefully at home. She was born April 21, 1941 in Franklin County, VA the daughter of John and Dorothy Perdue. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Jim Perdue, Richard Perdue and Bud Perdue; and son, Dennis Pagans. Ella is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Bobby Chitwood; her son, Wilson L. Pagans, Sr.; her daughter, Lillie Church (Bruce); four grandchildren, Will Pagans (Paula), John Pagans, Christopher Pagans and Travis Pagans. She has many great-grandkids; four step-children; 14 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandkids; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caregivers Will and Paula Pagans, Cierra Pagans, Diane Ayers and Carilion Clinic Hospice Team for their care. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Joe Dillon and Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Interment will be in the Perdue Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
