Ella S. Powell, age 88 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, June 3, 2009.
She was a longtime merchant in Rocky Mount at P&P Produce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gerthia Smith; husband, Phillip E. Powell; sister, Ovaline Motley; and brother, Alfred Smith.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Bob Wood; grandchildren, Cindy Wood and friend Tom Parker of Richmond; special grandson, Jake Parker; niece and nephews, Tommy Smith and wife Marlene; Stan Smith and wife Roberta; Don Smith and wife Bonnie, Mike Smith and wife Brenda, Cheryl Hill and husband Rick, Sammy Motley; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends from Tanyard Village.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Dr. Richard D. Harrell, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
