Listen to Obituary

Ellen Jeanne Miller (Bass), born September 15, 1951, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 5, 2019 after a 17 month heroic battle with stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away peacefully at her lakeside home in Hardy, Virginia with family by her side. Ellen will be continually loved and remembered by her husband of 47 years, George Miller; her twin daughters, Amanda Miller and Julie Roman; as well as Julie's spouse, Jose Roman; and their three children, Joseph, Maria, and Henry. Her two sisters, Linda Britton and Karen Blankenship, will also treasure their memories of her. She was predeceased by her mother, Beverly Bass; her father, Harold Bass; and her brother, John Bass, who also passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016. Ellen will live on in the memories of her many friends and family she had an impact on all across this country. She was known for her endless warmth, thoughtful and caring manner, and her fierce loyalty to her family and friends. She was a crafty lady who loved to quilt, fish, and spend as much time with her family as possible. Her love for birds and plants was evident to anyone who ever visited her beautiful homes. An avid Buffalo Bills fan, she was able to see them win all 4 preseason games this year for the first time in the history of the team. Ellen will be dearly missed and forever loved. Memorial services will be held in several states over the course of the next year and will be communicated to friends and family as they are planned.
