Elmer (Bud) Walker, age 81 of Rocky Mount entered into eternal rest after a short battle with cancer on Monday, May 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Meador Walker; and five brothers. He is survived by his twin sister, Elva W. Cundiff; nieces, Jean, Lisa and Brenda; nephews, Donnie, Freddie, Rodney, Mike, Robert and Leonard; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Walker, Violet Walker, Barbara Stoner, and Nancy Meador. He was a retired weaver from Fieldcrest Mills. He enjoyed walking 3-4 miles a day and perfecting his garden. A service celebrating his life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eddie Hawks and Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, The Gideons International, or Woodlawn Baptist Church. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
