Elsie Jamison Lavelle

Elsie Jamison Lavelle, 88, of Hardy died Saturday, August 13, 2011. Elsie was retired from Roanoke County Public Schools as a nursing instructor, and was a longtime member of Red Valley United Methodist Church. She was born May 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Owen and Cora Dowdy Jamison. She was also preceded in death by her husband Alton Burnette Lavelle; three brothers and one sister. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Ed Lassiter; son David A. Lavelle; three grandchildren, Kristal Lassiter and Scott Nelson, Brady and Ingrid Lassiter and David Lassiter; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Locke Lassiter and Noah Nelson; one brother, O.T. Jamison; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted from Red Valley United Methodist Church at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 16, 2011 with Rev. Josh King officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Red Valley Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065. Her family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, South Main Street Rocky Mount.
