Elsie C. Wray

Elsie C. Wray (Granny), age 81 of Rocky Mount, Va. passed away at her home on Thursday, August 18, 2011. She was a faithful and devoted member of Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren. She was the daughter of Amos and Ethel Carter whom are deceased. Also preceding her in death are her beloved husband, John (Tom) Wray; her son, William Thomas Wray; three brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her son, Mike whom occupied the home with his mother; daughter, Kathy Wilkerson and husband Garry; one brother, Eugene Carter and wife Libby; one sister, Chris Wills and husband Billy; sisters-in-law, Betty Brown and Catherine Wray; brother-in-law, Price Wray and wife Estelle; grandchildren Greg Wray, Amy Arthur, Brian Wray, Wendy Perdue and Erik Holland; great-grandchildren, Dylan Perdue, Graycie and Bethany Holland, Eli and Mariah, whom she loved with all her heart and many other family members and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She was a strong woman of God and her church, had a love for Sewing and quilting. She loved everyone and she will be missed by everyone forever in our hearts. We know now she is at peace in heaven with her loved ones. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center Rocky Mount.
