Elva S. Hodges

Elva S. Hodges, age 89 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, January 2, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter O. Hodges; two brothers, Alfred Smith and Joel Smith; two sisters, Edith Dudley and Gladys Butterworth; and two grandsons, Richard Thompson and Michael Hodges. Surviving are her children, Danny and Susan Hodges of Bassett, Roger Hodges of Rocky Mount, Carol Thompson of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Rhonda and Billy Akers, Jimmy Hodges, Karen Douglas; step-grandson, Matthew Carter; five great-grandchildren; sister, Polly Altice; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Gloria Millen. Funeral services will be conducted from Fairview Church of the Brethren 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church and other times at the home of Carol Thompson, 4091 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount.
