Emily Feazelle Woody, age 88 of Sontag went home on November 20, 2016. She was born January 19, 1928 in Roanoke City to David and Elsie Sink Feazelle and was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Trinkle Woody; sisters, Jacquie Boitnott, Juanita Brockman; brothers, David A., Daniel, and Donald Feazelle. Surviving are Beulah Berrier, W.G. Feazelle (Arlene), McLyn Feazelle (Tammy) and Janet Layman; also many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews. Emily graduated from the old Rocky Mount High School, Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, attended classes at the University of Virginia, University of Iowa and earned a BA degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. “Not flesh of my flesh, not bone of my bone. But still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute. You didn’t grow under my heart. But in it.” This is what she always said to the one she called her daughter, Betty W. Compton. A special thanks for all the love and care given by the Fork Mountain Adult Rest Home. Loved by many and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers Emily wanted donations to be given to Beulah Baptist Church, 4220 Sontag Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Rolling Acres Farm, service conducted by David Saleeba, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church where Emily attended since 1960.
