Emma Louise Aker

Emma Louise Aker, age 78 of Rocky Mount passed away Friday, October 14, 2011. She was born in Clarksburg, W.Va. on June 18, 1933 a daughter of the late Burt and Emma Bender. She was retired from Bristol Manufacturing after many years service. She was a member of Gogginsville United Methodist Church. Emma was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia “Patty” Aker Hodges; brother, William “Bill” Bender. Surviving are her husband, Paul Wesley Aker; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Betty Aker; son-in-law, Jackie Hodges; grandchildren, Dawn Campbell (Chris), Brad Aker; step-granddaughters, Rebecca McGuillon, Sharon Eastman; and special friend, Christine Altice. Funeral services will be conducted from Gogginsville United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Monday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
