Emma Ester Minucie Hodges age 91 of Rocky Mount, Va. passed away peacefully Wednesday morning April 7, 2010 at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. Born January 11, 1919 to Carlos Antonio and Ella Mae Smith Minucie, she was the youngest of eight children, and was preceded in death by her first husband; John W. Turner of Floyd, Va. and her husband of 51 years, Bentley Thomas Hodges of Rocky Mount, Va. She is survived by three devoted children and their spouses, daughter; Patricia and Daniel Johnson, of Callaway, Va. daughter; Carol and Robert Whitaker, of Rocky Mount and son; Robbie and Beth Hodges of Boones Mill, Va. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was blessed to be able to reside in her home due to the love and wonderful care and support of her companions; Lisa Ferguson, Keyona Montgomery, Sharon Bowen, Peggy Hodges, Lorrie Lucas and others too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday from Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
