Emory Brubaker

Riley Emory Brubaker, age 89, our gentle and compassionate loved one, departed this earth on April 1 ^st , 2018, and now resides with his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley Elmer and Junie Boitnott Brubaker, and was born on September 20, 1928, in the Callaway Community of Franklin County. He was a faithful and active member of Antioch Church of the Brethren, having served as Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of Church Board, Pastoral Search Committee, Deacon, and Moderator. In 1993, he retired as General Manager of Virginia-North Carolina Select Sires, Inc., with 20 years of service and received a Distinguished Service Award. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Zelda Hylton Brubaker; his sons, Darrell Wayne Brubaker and Stephen Emory Brubaker (Jackie); his daughter, Lori Diane Brubaker Law (Gary); his grandchildren, Keely L. Colvin (Derin), Ashley B. Grice (Josh), Riley S. Brubaker (Kaitlin), Tyler H. Brubaker, and Parker S. Law (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Jagger and Crew Colvin and Emory and Ida Grice; and special friend, Betty Glynne Bowman Thurman. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Galen (deceased) and Ruby Brubaker, Dan and Nancy Brubaker, Cline and Mary Lee Brubaker; his sister and brother-in-law, Frances (deceased) and Fred (deceased) Wampler. A celebration of his life will be held at Antioch Church of the Brethren on Saturday, April 7 ^th , with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and the service at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Andy Duffey and Reverend Eric Anspaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
