Erma worked at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for almost fifty years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peters in the Mountains Episcopal Church where she served in many capacities including church organist for more years than anyone can remember. Her Sunday morning loaf of bread and famous pound cake will be sorely missed. Erma was a lover of any sport played with a ball and was especially fond of Duke Basketball, Redskins football and Dodgers baseball. She enjoyed her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and hardly ever missed a game, cheering their teams and razzing the referees. She will be missed by all.
The family would like to give special thanks for the care Erma received from the Neurotrauma Intensive Care Unit staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and also the Carilion Clinic Hospice staff, especially Kitty Ruby and Karen Tosh.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Peters Church, Callaway, with the Rev. John Heck officiating. Interment will be private before the service at the Church Columbarium.
