Ernest Blankenship formerly of Union Hall passed away September 28, 2007 in Tampa, Florida.
Born April 29, 1933 in Penhook, Ernest worked as a mechanic and finish carpenter in Roanoke as well as Tampa, Florida. He also served in the United States Army for nine years and was a member of the American Legion Post #400 in Tampa.
Ernest was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Cundiff; and a brother, Okie Blankenship, Rocky Mount.
He is survived by his sisters, Ruby McBride and husband Willard, Glade Hill, Susie Blankenship, Johnson City, Tennessee; brothers, Herman Blankenship and wife Dee, Charlottesville, Cecil Blankenship and wife Rachel, Johnson City, Tennessee, Hubert Blankenship and wife Nancy, Moneta; sister-in-law, Iris Blankenship, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dot Blankenship Scott, Rocky Mount and Richard and Dolly Loomis, Tampa, Florida.
A memorial service will be conducted from the Cundiff Family Cemetery in Union Hall at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 with Rev. Eddie Hawks, Pastor Woodlawn Baptist Church officiating.
