Ethel Jane Brooks

Ethel Jane Myers Brooks, age 91 of Redwood departed this life on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was born in Radford, VA on July 16, 1931 and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Wade Myers and Nellie Ruth Byrd Myers; sister, Nellie Shaver; brothers, Clarence Myers, Jr., Forrest Myers; infant brother, Fred Myers; and nephews, Wm. C. Holifield and Gary Holifield. She was married to her High School sweetheart, Donald Gene Brooks, Sr. for 65 years who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Brooks was a former Deputy Clerk in the Franklin County Circuit Court Clerk’s office, Assistant Postmaster of Redwood, VA and member of Franklin Heights Church for more than 50 years. Surviving are her daughter, Candace Jane Law (Doug); sons, Donald Gene Brooks, Jr. (Pat) and Tony Ray Brooks (Mary Lou); 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Wayne Brooks (Linda) and Garnie Dishon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
