ETHEL JAMISON
Ethel Jamison Naff, age 104 of Boones Mill, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Franklin Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Mount, VA. She was born in Boones Mill, VA on October 13, 1904 and was the daughter of the late Cornealius C. and Ellen Jamison and sister of the late Dr. Claude Jamison, Clytie Naff, and Lewis Jamison. She was the devoted wife of the late Wesley W. Naff, Sr., who died in 1987. Her only beloved son Wesley W. Naff, Jr. died in 1996. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who taught her family to see the beauty in nature, in people, and in all their surroundings. Her grandchildren were very special to her, and she loved to spend alone time with each one. Many lives were touched by her radiant personality, positive attitude, and gracious disposition. She was sought out for her warmth and genuine expression of loving care and concern. Mrs. Naff was a lifetime member of Antioch Church of the Brethren where she was an active participant in quilting groups and food preparation for large gatherings. She made beautiful quilts until age 100 for her family, friends, and charities. She was a former school teacher and was the oldest living Ferrum College alumnus. She received her teaching certificate at Radford College. She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary and her husband Robert Stevens, Burlington, NC, Rebecca (husband Shelby Green, deceased), Boones Mill, VA, Betsy and her husband Dr. Russell Davis, Radford, Virginia and her husband Gary Cooper, Fort Mill, SC, Dr. Gretchen Naff, Black Mountain, NC; and daughter-in-law, Angelia Naff, Boones Mill. Also, she is survived by two sisters, Vivian (husband Neal Martin, deceased), Roanoke, and Janet and her husband Jim Sanders, Abingdon. Surviving grandchildren are Deborah Stevens Hamilton, David Stevens, Dawn Green Banks, Claude Green, Jackson Green, Wesley Naff, III, Abe Naff, Dr. Beatrice Naff Bailey, Dr. Neal Naff, Mary Ellen Naff Philpott, Lewis Davis, Steven Davis, Jennifer Davis Garrison-Dean, Ben Davis, Susan Cooper Berger, Lee Cooper, Sarah Cooper Jeanes, and Spring Cooper Tucker. She also has numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Antioch Church of the Brethren 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009 with Pastor David Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Antioch Church of the Brethren, Ferrum College Foundation, or the charity of your choice. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday with her family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
