Ethel Mae Yopp Gibson, age 78 of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 2, 2008.
She was born August 20, 1930 a daughter of the late Ted Roosevelt and Cora Margaret Sloan Yopp. She was also preceded in death by her son, Wayne Alvin Gibson; three brothers; and two sisters.
She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband of 61 years, Simon Peter Gibson; children, Jesse Gibson and wife Brenda, Michael Gibson and wife Rita, David Gibson and fiancée, Tamara Greene; grandchildren, Marcie Charles and husband Eric, Lisa Gibson, Melissa McBride and husband Wes, Amy and Thomas Gibson; great-grandchildren, Madisen Taylor Charles, Alexus Victoria McBride; brothers, Joe Yopp, Howard Yopp; sister, Faye Carter; special friend, Joyce Yopp; many other family and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Carilion Home Health and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County.
Funeral services will be conducted at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Harold Moyer and Rev. J. Willard Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery.
Her family will be receiving friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
