Euell “Dick” Mattox

Euell Nelson “Dick” Mattox, 87 of Rocky Mount passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Mary Brown Mattox; sister, Norma Jean Akers; brothers, Edward “Lum” Mattox, George Haywood Mattox, Wesley Mattox and Clyde Mattox. Surviving are his children, Lisa McDaniel (Phillip) and Lori Peters (Robby); grandchildren, Kristy Layman (Brian), Cassidy Peters and Devin Peters; great- grandchildren, Jenna Layman and Ryan Layman; former wife and friend, Barbara Mattox; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Dick was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and retired from DuPont with many years of service. He also served his country in the U.S. Airforce. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Furnace Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Philip Bramblet officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
