Eva Coleman Prillaman

Eva Coleman Prillaman, age 95 of Rocky Mount, Va. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born in her ancestral home on a farm in her beloved Burkes Garden, Tazewell County, Va.

After graduating from Burkes Garden High School, she married the love of her life, Curtis F. Prillaman. They moved to Meadows of Dan, Va. and later to Rocky Mount, Va.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie McGinnis and William Ezra Coleman; her six siblings; and husband of 60 years, Curtis Prillaman. She is survived by her five children, Ronald and wife Norma, Faye, Charles and partner Parker Jennings, Emily, Darrell and fiancé, Cass Kobayash (and her four children); granddaughter, McKenzie who was so precious to her and they had a very strong bond between them; and special friend, Anne Jamison.

Eva was a longtime member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. She was a member of home demonstration clubs, and an adult leader for 4-H clubs. She and Curtis were members of several square dance clubs for over 20 years.

Eva was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a great cook, the kitchen being the heart of her home. Growing and canning many of her own vegetables. An excellent seamstress who designed many of her square-dancing outfits. Eva enjoyed using her musical skills playing her piano and organ in her home. She experienced many travels here in the U.S., Canada, and abroad. A favorite being Myrtle Beach where she was a “Champion” sharks tooth finder.

Eva was blessed with many close friends throughout her life. The family would like to express thanks to all those who supported Eva over the past several years.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
