Eva Boyd Underwood

Eva B. Underwood, age 82 of Ferrum departed from this life on Saturday, September 17, 2011 into her heavenly rest following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lala Boyd; brothers and sisters, Elve Boyd, Elsie Thompson, Zulamae Whorley, Cathrine (DeeDee) Shively, Alvin Boyd and Clifford Boyd; one son, Arnold Underwood; one grandson, Billy Jack (BJ) Clingenpeel. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, S. Basil Underwood; children, Jeanette Ratliff (JC) of Collinsville, Danny R. Underwood (Joyce) of Ferrum, Michael Underwood (Shirley) of Ferrum, Judy Clingenpeel (Jack) of Ferrum; grandchildren, Patricia Atkins, Shelia Grant, Scott Underwood, Lee Underwood, Jason Underwood, Tina Bowman, and Jennifer Brown; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. James Hensley, Pastor Travis Gore, and Rev. Calvin Hickson officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
