Evelyn Elizabeth Flora Austin

Evelyn Elizabeth (Flora) Austin, age 93 of Rocky Mount, Va. passed away Tuesday January 19, 2010 after a short illness. She was born May 28, 1916, to Henry and Ruth (Cool) Flora. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Austin and son-in-law Orville Bower, three brothers; Robert, Loyd and Earl Flora. Surviving are one son and wife Keith and Kay Austin of Bastain, Virginia, three daughters and companions; Phyllis and Eldon Denlinger of Englewood, Ohio, Carol and Robert Montgomery of Wirtz, Virginia, Marilyn and Jim Updike of Bedford, Virginia, one sister; Marie and Bob Decker of Lewes, Delaware, one sister-in-law; Donna Flora of Union, Ohio, eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; thirty-nine step-great-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-great-grandchildren and many special nephews, nieces and friends. A special thanks to Faith Home Barry and Sally Martin and employees Havilla, Kim, Audrey and Sharon who so lovingly cared for her along with the Good Samaritan Hospice; Bridget, Amanda and Pam. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the church. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
