Everett Jamison Stanley, age 88 of Rocky Mount was born March 11, 1927 and went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 13, 2015. The youngest child of the late John Lewis and Ruby Jamison Stanley, he was born and raised in the Antioch community of Franklin County. He owned and operated Stanley Jewelers for 45 years before retiring in 1995. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, and was a past member of the Callaway Ruritan Club, Rocky Mount Retail Merchants Association, Rocky Mount Order of the Eastern Star and Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge 201. In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Christine Angle Stanley; brothers, Edward, Alfred, Fred, Paige and Jack; sisters, Esther and Susie; half-brother, Bennie Stanley; and half-sisters, Otie Craig and Hattie Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ethel English Stanley; children, Wanda and Roy Swartz, Wayne and Marie Stanley, and Dale and Betsy Stanley; stepdaughters, Nancy and John Hamblin, Judy and Terry Palmer, and Jane and Michael Turner; his grandchildren, Michael Swartz, Karen and Jacob Smith, Anthony Stanley, Steven Stanley, Robin and Rob Morris, Kevin Burroughs, Eric Stanley, Elizabeth Pierce, Alfred Hamblin, Alison and Chad Rolley, Andrea and Christian Sobb, Carolyn Brown, Jason and Kathryn Turner, Ashley and Jen Turner, Benjamin and Jessica Turner, and Kim and Andy Durr; great-grandchildren, Ivy Pierce, Austin Fletcher, Christian Sobb Jr, Afton Sobb, Gabriel Heinl, Gwyneth Heinl, Brittany Caca, Blake Ford, Carson Turner, Karleigh Turner, Cydney Durr and Seth Durr. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Estelle Stanley, Velma Stanley, Walter Powell Jr, Ruth Lazenby, Andy Prillaman, Marvin and Lois Powell, John and Brenda Powell, Douglas and Kathy Powell; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. The family would like to thank Lynn Wood for her kindness and gentle care of Everett. They would like also to thank Carilion Hospice of Franklin County and Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for the care they gave him. To honor Everett's life the family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 16, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA and at other times at the family home. Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 Ruritan Road, Rocky Mount, VA on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Liz Lazenby and Rev. Gustavo Segovia officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 2966 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, VA.
