Evy Lena A. Wood, age 95 of Rocky Mount passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Luther Wood; an infant daughter; her parents Henry Sylvatus and Florida Cannaday Atkins; four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by a son, Howard Kermit Wood and wife, Phyllis, of Richmond; one daughter, Freeda W. Watson, of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, William Howard Wood and wife Tracy of Richmond, Ann Wood Rutter of Virginia Beach and Melissa Ann Watson and husband Brentwood Gray Voltz of Cary, NC; four great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Taylor and Carson Rutter, and Hunter Wood.
The family would like to thank the staff of Franklin Health Care for their love and care for the past five years.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 with the Reverends John and Rachel Gardner officiating. The Honorable William N. Alexander will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday with her family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
