Florence Webb Akers

Florence W. Akers of Callaway and Vinton, VA, was called by God to her heavenly home on October 12, 2015 at the age of 99 years. Florence joined her loving husband Otha and two sons Gary and Harry Lynn Akers. She was a loving and devoted housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed making egg custard pies to take to her friends and relatives. She was born August 1, 1916 of the late Harry and Rena Webb and was also preceded in death by four brothers, C.W. , Lee Roy, Wiley, and Buford Webb; three sisters, Annie Prillaman, Edith Justus, and Virginia Holden. Surviving are her son, Steven Akers (Vicki), daughter, Cassandra Milliron (Jack), four grandchildren and spouses, Jay Milliron (Stephanie), Troy Akers, Monica Shepard (Gary), Joshua Akers (Lynn) and eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Geneieve Hite and one brother, Paul Webb. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Richard Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Faith Fellowship or Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
