Frances Powell Hutchinson

Frances Powell Hutchinson, age 89 of Rocky Mount passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia a daughter of the late Benjamin Tazewell, Sr. and Minnie Jefferson Powell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, C. Thomas Powell and Ben T. Powell, Jr., both of Roanoke; and sisters, Ruby Catherine Woolwine of Roanoke and Virginia P. Sink of Boones Mill. She was the widow of L. Harold Hutchinson of Rocky Mount to whom she was married to for over 51 years. Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church for over 50 years and retired from the Franklin County School System where she served as the school secretary at Rocky Mount Elementary School for 16 years. Surviving are her son, Les H. Hutchinson, Jr. and wife Danita Sells Hutchinson of Rocky Mount; one precious granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Hutchinson of Rocky Mount and her fiancée, Justin Louis Brooks of Union Hall. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. A heartfelt thanks is extended to Bonnie Harlow and also the staff of Fork Mountain Rest Home for their care and concern of Frances. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Christian Church 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Matt Ricks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Rocky Mount Christian Church Building Fund, 120 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
