Frances "Norene" Keith Brubaker

Frances "Norene" Keith Brubaker, age 91 of Rocky Mount went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her loving daughters on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Norene was predeceased by her parents, J.D. and Flora Mae Keith; husband, George Brubaker, Sr.; son, George Brubaker, Jr.; son-in-law, James Johnson; brothers, Lonnie Keith and Tony Keith; and sister, Bertha Dooley. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bonnie Bodnar (Larry), Valerie Latimer (Bill) and Tammy Johnson; grandchildren, Vanessa Burnette (Stephen), Stephanie Kirk (Robert Abed), Britanie Rose (John), Holly Blada (Eric), Savannah Herndon (Calvin), Brandin Johnson (Ada), Caleb Johnson (Marlie) and Ashton Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter due in June; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was always ready for a shopping trip and a club sandwich lunch. She loved going on trips with her children and grandchildren. She faithfully attended Antioch Church of the Brethren and loved watching “Preaching” and the Gaither’s even if she watched it before. She was a fan of Dr. Pol and the Gameshow Network. Norene loved her family and loved gathering with them especially during the Holidays. When she was able, she enjoyed cooking for the family and the gatherings. She was good at it and rarely relied on the recipe. The family still says, “it almost tastes like Mama’s”. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her as Mama, Grandma and Grandma B. Special thanks to the caregivers for the care given the past two challenging years and the care and support by Gentiva Hospice nurses the last six months. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Antioch Church of the Brethren with Pastor Andy Duffey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
