Frances Tyree Mcghee

Frances Virginia Tyree McGhee, age 92 of Rocky Mount died Monday, January 27, 2014. She was born January 22, 1922 and was preceded in death by her husband, William Ashworth McGhee; father, Owen Smith Tyree; mother, Lulie Frances Turner Tyree; and brothers, Jessie, William, Claude and Henry Cobb Tyree. Frances was employed at DuPont during the 1940?s then became a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and being involved in numerous activities at Doe Run Christian Church. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Judy McGhee of Collinsville, Regina Davis and husband Dave; granddaughter, Carly Burke and husband Sean; great-granddaughter, Madison Burke; sister, Lucy Tyree Prillaman; special family friends, Bonnie Smith, Elsie Harrison, Betty Hubbard, Shelby Winstead, and the staff of Trinity Mission. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Michael Stump officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doe Run Christian Church, 3536 Doe Run Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
