Frances Truman Pendleton, 83, of Rocky Mount and former resident of Richmond has been granted eternal life Friday 23rd of November, 2007, after a courageous thirty year battle with a rare form of progressive paralysis.
Mrs. Pendleton was born and raised in Franklin County Virginia and daughter of the late Nick and Ruth Truman. Mrs. Pendleton has been preceded in death by her husband, Jack William Pendleton, retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer; one son, Ronald Pendleton; two brothers, Gene Truman and Billy Truman; and two sisters, Dorothy Law and Virginia Simmons.
Survivors include three sisters, Sara Chissom, Sandra Spangler, and Deloris Helms; and one remaining brother, Nick Truman. Surviving children include Michael and Andy Pendleton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Worthy of mention is special sister-in-law, Mrs. Catherine Truman; niece, Laura Ann Plyman; sister, Deloris Helms; and nephew, David Helms.
For the past eight years Frances Pendleton resided at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. Facility located in Rocky Mount Virginia where she was afforded excellent health care. Frances Pendleton affectionately called Frankie, had a passion for life and a strong desire to live despite the affects of a devastating and progressive paralysis disease.
A memorial Christian Service will be held in Hardy Virginia on the 8th of December at 11:00 AM at the Franklin Memorial Baptist Church, 3980 Truman Hill Road, Hardy, Virginia 24101. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
