Francis E. Gahagen, age 86, of Rocky Mount, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at his home.
He was a retired Lieutenant Commander with the U.S. Navy serving for 20 years. He was a member of Gogginsville United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gahagen was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Winefred Lehr Gahagen; his loving wife of 63 years, Catherine K. Gahagen; and daughter Barbara Martin.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie G. Powell of Louisburg, Kansas; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; son-in-law, Wayne Martin of Boones Mill; and sister, Martha Fasciano of Grass Valley, California.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Brad Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
