Francis Wayne (Rastus) Whitlock

Francis Wayne (Rastus) Whitlock, age 74 of Ferrum passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, March 16, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Euell Lee Whitlock and Macie Bowling Whitlock Wood; a ten month old son, Dennis Wayne Whitlock; four brothers, Hugh, Melvin (Chalk), Bobby Joe Whitlock and Gerald Wood; one sister, Gaytha Smith. Surviving is his wife of nearly 47 years, Rachel Quinn Whitlock; three sons, Perry T. Whitlock and wife Carol, Ferrum, Dudley P. Whitlock and Berkley L. Whitlock, of the home; four grandsons, Timothy Whitlock and wife Rachel, Gary Whitlock and friend Jessica, Gage Hubbard, Patrick Whitlock; one stepgrandson, Jon Wisniewski; sisters, Jean Davis and husband Paul, Sue Fulcher; brothers, Johnny Lee Metz and wife Mary Ann, James B. Wood and wife Gladys; sisters-in-law, Catherine N. Wood, Jacqueline Whitlock; brother-in-law, Rev, Howard C. Smith; sisters-in-law, June Richardson, Patsy Young, Nancy Quinn; brother-in-law, Noah A. Quinn, Jr. and wife Sharon; numerous nieces and nephews. Also his special care giving niece, Cindy Shively. Special appreciation to Dr. Atienza and Carilion Hospice Service of Franklin County. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
