Franklin (Dan) Blount, age 78 passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Franklin, or Dan as he’s known to family and friends. He was born and raised in South Plainfield, NJ. He was the sixth of seven children born to John and Lillian Blount on April 23, 1939. Dan served in the Marine Crops from 1958-1962. He spent the next 40 years as a technical engineer until retiring in 2001. Dan leaves behind his wife, Kathleen; sons, Craig, Daniel and Robert (Kimberley); daughters, Danielle (Jacob) and Kristin; his beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Lorianne (Daniel), Adriana, Thad, Jonan, Morgan, Jaxon and Raven; his brother, David (Patty); numerous nieces and nephews; his very special friend, Mary Sheets and friend Rick Vaassen. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and his grandson Justin Bender. We love you Dad and we miss you but we know you’re watching over us. Graveside services at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA, 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 with military honors.
