Franklin Roosevelt Nichols

Franklin Roosevelt Nichols, age 71 of Callaway went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Nichols and Ethel Hodges Nichols; and brothers, Jesse and Gene Nichols. Franklin enjoyed the outdoors including hunting whitetail deer and catching rattlesnakes. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Green Nichols and together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the 9th of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols had seven children, James Nichols, Wanda Young, David Nichols, Franklin Nichols, Jr., Sue Nichols, Patricia Perdue and husband Sean, and Michael Nichols; 11 grandchildren, Keshia, Terry, Ronnie, Brittney, Stephen, Hunter, Jacob, Jayson, Shane, Hailey and Spencer; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Linda Martin and husband Woody, Iris Carr and Terry Nichols; Hilda Wray and husband Jerry. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Burton White officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
