Fred Dice Bennett, Sr.

Fred Dice Bennett, Sr., age 78 of Rocky Mount died Friday, October 16, 2009. He was born April 27, 1931, in Circleville, West Virginia. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mounts Bennett; his mother, Tena S. Bennett; father, Jesse H. Bennett; son, Fred D. Bennett, Jr.; and daughter, Julie Bennett Mitchell. He is survived by a son, David W. Bennett and wife Deana of Farmville; granddaughter, Traci B. Oakes and husband Cale of Rocky Mount; grandson, Terry L. Mitchell (Tressi Young) of Rocky Mount; step grandsons, Jamie and Justin Womack of Farmville; great-grandsons, Caleb and Tanner Oakes of Rocky Mount; brother, Faye H. Bennett and wife Dorothy of Circleville, West Virginia; sisters, Hazel B. Simmons of Cherry Grove, West Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Furnace Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Furnace Creek Baptist Church, 975 Scuffling Hill Rd, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
