Fred F. Knowles

Fred F. Knowles, 93 of Boones Mill, passed away January 16, 2013. He was born in Ferrum, Virginia on March 2, 1919, son of the late Robert and Roberta Knowles. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elise Forman Knowles; six brothers, and five sisters. Mr. Knowles was an active member of the Red Valley United Methodist church. He enjoyed beekeeping, gardening, reading, and visiting with family and friends. Surviving are his two sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kathy Knowles, Lee and Charlotte Knowles; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Tom Knowles-Bagwell; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am. Saturday at Red Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Josh King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be made to Red Valley United Methodist Church. His family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church.
