Frederick "Fred" Cline Wampler, age 94 of Rocky Mount went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2015. Fred was born on November 20, 1920 to the late Luther and Mary Elizabeth Wampler from Wyers Cave, VA. He was predeceased by his wife; three sisters; and two brothers. Fred married Frances Brubaker on June 6, 1946 and during their 55 years of marriage they were blessed with seven children and their families, David (Paulina) Wampler, Hixson, TN, Wayne (Terry) Wampler, Waynesboro, VA, Wanda (Larry) Jamison Rocky Mount, John Wampler, Blacksburg, VA, Ricky (Tanya) Wampler, Rocky Mount, Susan (Richard) Jamison, Callaway and Nancy Wampler, Abingdon, VA.; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brothers-in-law and their wives, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and beloved friends. Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. "Strut" was an active member of the Callaway Ruritan Club for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren where he enjoyed working with the Brethren Disaster Relief Team. He was affectionately known as "Turkey Wampler" in the community even many years after raising turkeys. Funeral services will be conducted at Antioch Church of the Brethren on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Eric Anspaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank the caregivers who provided help during his later years. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
