Frederick Alan Delong

Frederick Alan DeLong, age 64 of Hardy moved peacefully to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was a member of Halesford Baptist Church. He loved God, his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Herman DeLong. Surviving are his mother, Reva B. Delong; brothers, Ken DeLong, Doug DeLong and wife Tonya; sisters, Ann DeLong and Karen DeLong; nephew, Wesley Gibson and wife Beth; nieces, Nikki Basham and Brittany DeLong; great-niece, Emmaleigh Poage; great-nephew, Melvin Gibson; his “little sis”, Shannon Newman; several uncles; aunts; and numerous friends. Also surviving is his cat, Cyclone (AKA Peewee). Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Halesford Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, therapists and the support staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during Alan’s illness.
