Gail I. Deforest

Gail DeForest of Moneta, Va. was born on November 23, 1948 in Pottsdam, New York. Gail was married to her loving and devoted husband Richard for 40 years. Gail has five children, Sheila and her husband John, Tracy and her husband Scott, Cindy, Ryan and his wife Denise, Richie and his wife Angie. Gail has ten grandchildren, JR, Jerome, Samantha, Amy, David, Isaac, Rick, Elaina, John and Gabe. Gail loved her four nieces and nephews: Sean, Amanda, Jamie and Courtney. Gail is survived by two brothers, Brian and his wife Theresa, Bruce and his wife Judy. Gail was suddenly taken from her family on August 19, 2011 in Costa Rica doing what she loved, traveling, exploring and enjoying nature. Gail especially enjoyed being with and caring for her family and grandchildren. She made every moment a teaching opportunity and was a graduate of Tarkio College in Missouri. Gail strove at every opportunity to enhance other lives with a strong determination and love for life. Funeral services will be conducted from Resurrection Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Friday with Deacon Chris Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Resurrection Catholic Church Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount/ Smith Mountain Lake.
