Garnett Geraldine Guthrie

Garnett G. Guthrie, age 82 of 211 Cassell Drive, Rocky Mount went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Ida Young Shoemaker; her husband, Ernest (Buck) Guthrie; sister, Gladys Hodges; brothers, Frank and Billy Shoemaker; son-in-law, Terry L. Smith. Surviving are her children, Betty (Richard) Hodges, Peggy Smith, Patsy Guthrie, Kenneth (Smokey) Guthrie, Larry Guthrie; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Central Grace Church 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Paul Mahan officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
