Gary Grant Guthrie

Gary Grant (Farmer) Guthrie, Sr., age 69 of Boones Mill passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. He was born February 10, 1945 a son of the late Riley and Thelma Guthrie. Gary was a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, mechanics and working on trucks. Surviving are his loving wife of 19 years Betty Lou Guthrie; children, Sherrie Guthrie of Hardy, Gary "Grant" Guthrie, Jr. (Amy) of Callaway, Doug Hicks (Kim) of Boones Mill, Greg Hicks (Tiffany) of Callaway, and Jason Hicks of Boones Mill; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Guthrie (Becky) of Boones Mill; grandchildren, Tanner, Josh, Nik, Lauren, Hunter, Ashlyn, Luke, Kenny, Brianna, Daisha and Robert; mother-in-law, Esther Huffman; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, sister-in-laws and brothers-in-law; special cousin and wife, Robbie Guthrie (Jean). Graveside services will be conducted from the Yopp Family Cemetery 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
