Gary Lynn “Rap” Reynolds, age 67 of Penhook passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Erma Reynolds; sister, Gale Wilson; and brother, Larry Reynolds. He was born in Franklin County on October 23, 1954. He developed a strong work ethic as a young boy and continued as a young man to become a cattleman and logger, but most of all he was proud tobacco farmer. Rap was a graduate of Franklin County High School and Virginia Tech. He loved to watch Tech football and basketball. He always said “Once a Hokie, always a Hokie”. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Barbara Hedrick Reynolds; sisters, Drucille Cassell, Joe Ann Belcher, Barbara Renick, Carolyn Bowles, Deborah Walker and Cindy Otey; sisters-in-law, Marian Hedrick and her husband, John Gleber, Rebecca Crawley and Diane Reynolds. Uncle Rap will be missed by nieces and nephews, Chad and Angela, Keegan, Anna Thomas and Lindsey, Aleah and Kyle, Charlie, Dani and Clara Lynn; and other numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Forrest Hill Christian Church 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 with Mr. Matt Thurman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Forrest Hill Christian Church. The family respectfully request no food or visitors.
