Geneva Turman Burgess, age 84 of Boones Mill, died Friday, February 15, 2008 at Franklin Healthcare Center.
She was a long time member of Boones Mill Church of the Brethren and was a devoted housewife whose life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband, Delma A. Burgess; her parents, Grover Cleveland and Edna Hylton Turman; sister, Ruby Turman Pugh; brothers, Elijah Turman, Russell Turman, Melvin Turman and Ralph Turman.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Burgess, Susan Burgess Eggleton and husband Richard; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carolyn Burgess, Michael and Sandra Burgess; her grandchildren, Terri Burgess, Matthew Eggleton, Amanda Eggleton and Jonathan Burgess; sisters, Mabel Shockley, Pauline Nelson, Juanita Harmon and husband Elwood, Prentice McGuire; sisters-in-law, Hazel Burgess and Myrtle Burgess; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and management and special room mate Edith Midkiff at Franklin Healthcare Center for the care Geneva received there for the past four years.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday with her family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
