George Walton James

George Walton James, 67, died unexpectedly April 23, 2022, at home.  He was born November 16, 1954, in Miami, Florida, the son of George Walton James and Helen Mullady James.

George graduated from the University of Maryland and then earned his MBA. Following graduation, he worked for Sprint and started several companies of his own. Eventually he followed his passion for cars and worked for Volkswagen Group of America, until he retired. Always by his side was his wife, Suzanne, whether they were on the water, on the mountain, or in the pits while he was out on the racetrack with Porsche Club. Suzanne and George were together for over 39 years.

George is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Pender and his sons and best friends, Patrick and Kevin. To those that knew him, he was very passionate and playful in everything he did. From cooking dinner, to sharing wine, to talking cars, George always made you feel welcome and could make you laugh.

A special thanks to all his friends and neighbors, past and present, for everything.

His family will receive friends 1-2:30 pm Friday, May 6 at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
