George Stephen “Stevie” Taylor, Jr., age 56 of Chesapeake, formerly of Franklin County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2026. He was born April 22, 1970 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Oscar Ferguson and Dorothy Altice McGhee, Woodrow George Taylor and Mamie Wimmer Taylor; and uncle, James Bayes “J.B.” Ferguson. Surviving are his wife, Josie Taylor; parents, Sandra Ferguson and George Stephen Taylor (Mary); brothers, Timothy Taylor (Sharon), Brad Anderson, Jeffrey Taylor (Kelly) and Joseph Taylor (Hannah); many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; and his dog whom he loved so much, Crosby. Stevie graduated from Franklin County High School. He began his career in retail while working at Winn-Dixie in Rocky Mount. Stevie worked for Walmart for over 20 years working his way up to being a store manager for several locations across the State of Virginia. Following his time in retail, he transitioned to selling vehicles in the Chesapeake area and in the Hotel Renovation industry. Stevie was an avid sports fan cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Reds, but most importantly, he loved the Pittsburgh Penguins. A Celebration of Life will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In memory of Stevie, the family requests those who attend his service wear clothing of their favorite sports team. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
