Gerald A. Shiflett

Gerald Arrington Shiflett, 99, of Goodview, VA died peacefully at his son's home in Sontag in Franklin County on January 20, 2021. He was born December 26, 1921 in Staunton, VA, the son of Edward and Myrtle Rohr Shiflett. He lived in Staunton until moving to Goodview in 1986.

Faithfulness marked his 59 year marriage to Rebecca Welch Shiflett who died in 2007. Gerald was a faithful member of Wildhurst Reformed Presbyterian Church in Roanoke.

Surviving Gerald are his sons Ronald B. Shiflett and Gerald E. Shiflett, a daughter-in-law, Audrey Lilly Shiflett, a daughter-in-law, Linda Mihalinec Shiflett, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, VA at 12 noon Tuesday, January 26 by the Rev. Doug Hayes of Bonbrook Baptist Church. Additionally, there will be a memorial service at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton, VA at 12 noon, Wednesday, January 27. Arrangements are being handled by Flora Funeral Service.

Always faithful, Gerald served us all during World War II in the Army 822nd MP Company in England and Germany as a military policeman.

All who knew Gerald benefitted from his quiet, gentle, but resolute spirit and his genuine Christian witness.
